Why Chiropractic?

Dr. Michael Forbes (Forbes) has been a practicing chiropractor in Dover, NH since 1998. Forbes operated under the name of Forbes Family Chiropractic from 1998 to 2019. In 2019, Forbes changed the name of his practice to Adjust For Life Chiropractic Center in order to align with his chiropractic vision.

Forbes' vision is for every member in the community to experience a higher quality of life that comes from  regular chiropractic care.

Dr. Forbes’ passion for helping people to restore health through chiropractic care was born from his first real passion; hockey. Forbes spent most of his childhood on the ice, an avid hockey player with a dream of playing college hockey one day. Unfortunately, Forbes starting experiencing debilitating back pain at a young age. By his junior year in high school, he had to wear a back brace at all times. After 9 months in the brace and monthly updated x-rays, the orthopedist felt he had reached maximum structural improvement, but Forbes still suffered from the pain.

After years of pain and frustration, Forbes had come to accept that he would just have to live with the pain. One of his teammates suggested Forbes join him to visit a family friend who was a chiropractor. That was the day that Forbes’ life was changed and he was set on the path to pursue a calling to chiropractic. The chiropractor checked his spine and was able to locate exactly where the problem was. Immediately after being adjusted, Forbes felt as if years of life had been put back into his body and instantly knew that he wanted to become a chiropractor.

Dr. Forbes completed his undergraduate studies at Plymouth State College (now Plymouth State University), in Plymouth, New Hampshire, in the spring of 1992. He was then accepted to Palmer College of Chiropractic and began his rigorous chiropractic journey. He graduated with a Doctor of Chiropractic in October of 1997.

History of the Practice

After graduating from “The Fountainhead”, Palmer College of Chiropractic, in October of 1997, Dr. Forbes became licensed in NH in February of 1998. He opened his practice in June of 1998 with the name Forbes Family Chiropractic. One of his goals was to care for entire families since he feels strongly that everyone needs regular chiropractic care. That is why he chose the original name for his practice.

 

Over the years of adjusting thousands of patients, Forbes has seen the trend in the insurance industry change a lot. Premiums have increased and insurance coverage for chiropractic care has either decreased or become much more costly. Forbes felt it was his obligation to create a way in his practice to make chiropractic care accessible and affordable not only for his current patients, but for future patients to come.  He chose not to contract with the insurance companies and simplified his practice to an easy monthly membership.

 

In 2019, Forbes decided to change the name of his practice in order to align more with his chiropractic vision. Since his vision is to have 100% of his patients under regular maintenance care for a higher quality of life, he decided to change the name of his practice name to ADJUST FOR LIFE CHIROPRACTIC CENTER
